2026.10.21|Kailin Yang: Four Counter-Propositions on the Image in Bergson’s Philosophy
Thinking Between Art and Philosophy(II)
SPEAKER: Kailin Yang (Professor, Graduate Institute of Trans-disciplinary Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts)
TOPIC: Four Counter-Propositions on the Image in Bergson’s Philosophy
TIME: October 21 (Wednesday) 16:00-18:00
VENUE: 2F, 360 University House
In Matter and Memory, Bergson proposes a radical revolution in the conception of images. Through four counter-propositions, Bergson reconstructs the image into a decentralized, anti-representational dynamism that operates without a subject-object framework. By introducing indetermination into the mechanical laws of physics, this perspective serves as source for escaping clichés and unleashing creativity.
