Through a comparison of images of the body in Chinese and Western medicine, this lecture explores how images participate in the construction of bodily knowledge. Focusing on such dimensions as the visible and the invisible, the interior and the surface, and vision and touch, it reconsiders bodily experience, modes of knowing, and conceptions of the body within these two medical traditions.
