講題：A Few Thoughts about the Philosophical Specificities in Taiwan and Japan: An Informal Critical Exercise in Intercultural Phenomenology

演講摘要：

Today, I would like to challenge with you an informal critical exercise in intercultural phenomenology, which is quite unfamiliar to me. I will first try to reflect on my own experimental path in some European and East Asian countries. Working from that, I will address a few striking specificities in the philosophical behaviors and tendencies of students, scholars, and institutions in philosophy in Japan and Taiwan. Third, this discussion will give me the opportunity to describe some specific phenomena such as “sleeping”, “reading”, “writing”, “translating”, “comparing”, and finally what appears to me as a fairly delicate question: the very idea of a “national philosophy”.
