SPEAKER: Jheng Kai-Yuan (Co-founder/Current CEO of Philosophy Medium)
TOPIC: Can Philosophy Make a Living? Public Philosophy, New Media, and Experiments in Reasoned Debate Outside Academia in Taiwan
TIME: April 15 (Wednesday) 16:00-18:00
VENUE: 2F, 360 University House
This talk reflects on the ten-year history of Philosophy Medium and examines the current state of public philosophy in Taiwan. Drawing on practical experience with social media and podcasting, it explores how new media can, in the age of AI, move beyond popularization and help create spaces for high-quality, reasoned debate outside academic institutions. The talk also considers how to innovate in both content and format, shifting from one-way transmission of ideas toward more reciprocal forms of public dialogue.
